FRUIT COCKTAIL NUTRITIONAL VALUE

Fruit cocktail is a popular and healthy dessert. It is a combination of cherries, peaches, grapes and some other fruits. It is also packed with light syrup. This a popular option for fruit growers to package fruits that cannot be sold as a whole. While people may have been making fruit cocktail for a long time, the term is only coined by Del Monte back in 1938.

A 1-cup serving of fruit cocktail contains 75.9 calories, making it a good light snack, and including it in your meal plan as a dessert allows you to eat a hearty meal without going over your calorie allowance of 300 to 600 calories. It provides very little fat — 0.1 g per serving. Fruit cocktail is not particularly high in protein either, at 1 g in a portion, but the carbohydrate content is much higher. One cup contains 20.2 g of carbs, or 15.5 percent of 130 g recommended for daily consumption by the Institute of Medicine. Fat, protein and carbohydrates supply fuel for body.

It is packed with fiber and vitamins and minerals. And if you are in need of extra energy, instead of resorting to energy drinks, it will be more sensible to turn into munching on these fruits for some natural sugar.
So keep a stock of fruit cocktail cans in your pantry, the same way you keep your bar supplies filled up all the time.
